ALL AGESSEATED SHOWLIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS AVAILABLEANYA HINKLE & JOHN DOYLE Asheville, NC-based Appalachian-Americana singer/songwriter Anya Hinkle and renowned Irish guitarist John Doyle team up for a celebration of OCEANIA, Hinkle’s new album released in 2024 on Red Parlor Records. OCEANIA, produced by Kevin Moloney (U2, Sinéad O’Connor), features Hinkle’s award-winning songs supported by Doyle’s celebrated sense of groove and melody on guitar. The result of their collaboration is a collection of songs that uses the vastness of the great Pacific as a metaphor for how our lives are often quite uncertain–uncertainty as wide and deep as the ocean itself–requiring more courage to voyage across it than we think we have at times. Expect an evening of songs and stories from across the globe from two master storytellers and musicians. Anya Hinkle tends to her craft with both personality and purpose. Based in Asheville North Carolina, she shares her songs with exacting detail, superb storytelling and an emotional honesty that reflects her rural roots in Appalachia and its surrounding environs. Nevertheless, she’s consistently expanded her musical parameters through regular touring throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia, soaking up the diverse influences of the sounds and cultures that she’s encountered along the way. With her new album, Oceania — due for release on Red Parlor Records this spring — Anya brings that inspiration to full flourish. Recorded at Citizen Vinyl studios in Asheville, and overseen by veteran producer Kevin Moloney (U2, Sinéad O’Connor), the album features an impressive group of players, including renowned Irish guitarist John Doyle on guitar, bouzouki, and mandola; acclaimed slide guitarist Billy Cardine on Dobro, lap steel, and chaturangui; Daniel Kimbro on bass; River Guerguerian on percussion; Mary Lucey sharing harmony vocals; and special guests Michael McGoldrick contributing Uilleann pipes and whistle; Mick McAuley on accordion; and Clark Rinard on organ and electric piano. Lauded as “a darling of the Americana scene” by Bluegrass Today, and described by PopMatters as “…a burgeoning force behind the Appalachian roots revival…,” Anya has reached a new peak in her career, one that’s yielded ten albums to date — including those on her own and several in collaboration with others. Oceania also marks the latest triumph in a trajectory that’s yielded a first place win in the 2019 MerleFest Chris Austin Songwriting Competition (courtesy of her song “The Ballad of Zona Alston”),  a win at the 2023 USA Song Competition, and runner-up status at the International Acoustic Music Awards in 2022.

Erik Koskinen Band

ALL AGESSEATED SHOWLIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS AVAILABLEERIK KOSKINEN BAND He’s a lights-out guitar (player) and his band is as good as any band in the country. But he’s also a top-shelf writer, with a blade-sharp wit and love songs so real and tender they seem to transcend the form. I know of few writers whose relationship to their own landscape, in this case the rural north, is so elemental, and so integral. His songs feel like weather. People know him in Minnesota, where most bar bands seem to cover at least one of his songs, but otherwise he’s still one of the best kept secrets in the country. He sings about an America that doesn’t get much play anymore, the one where the people at the bottom can’t quite get ahead, and where working people aren’t cartoon props in a culture war, but shrewd human beings living hard lives, and hard loves. His songs have the diamond-hard clarity and simplicity of Tom Petty, and like Petty, Koskinen can sing a literal statement without metaphor or ornament, and make it move like poetry. The spiritual hunger in rock ‘n’ roll that came from blues and gospel is still a hunger in these songs, and if you listen hard, you can hear that lean coyote voice – wary, feral, full of fierce delight – lighting up the wee hours from somewhere out on the prairie. ~J Foucault CAROMIA AND RAHMRahm & CaroMia had a close musical friendship for many years through the lens of R&B, Funk and Neo-Soul before discovering a shared deep love of singer/songwriter music.  This is a side of them seldom seen outside late nights on front porches.  Over the last handful of years, they have crafted their own homage to their roots- Lush harmonies carried across dreamy soundscapes, songwriting that shines in this simplicity.

An Evening With Vanessa Collier

– ALL AGES- SEATED SHOW- LIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS AVAILABLEVANESSA COLLIER “There’s a young lady [Vanessa Collier] came onstage with me, I forget where I was, but she’s playing an alto saxophone, and man, she was amazing.”   Those are the words of Buddy Guy in a recent issue of American Blues Scene, describing an impromptu performance with Vanessa Collier on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. If you haven’t been fortunate enough to meet Vanessa and witness one of her head-turning, fiery, and passionate performances, you should definitely make sure you do. As a master musician and multi-instrumentalist, Vanessa Collier, weaves funk, soul, rock, and blues into every powerful performance and she is downright impressive. With soulful vocals, searing saxophone, and witty songwriting, Vanessa is blazing a trail, racking up an impressive arsenal of honours, and has already singled herself out as an artist of distinction and one we would all do well to watch.   It’s not simply the accolades she has accumulated so far, although they’ve been many — two Blues Music Awards for “Horn Player of the Year”, and a third BMA for “Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year”, eight Blues Music Award Nominations (BMAs), a Blues Blast Award nomination, the Jammingest Pro Award bestowed by the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, First Place for lyrics in the International Songwriting Competition, Best of 2014 Blues Breaker on Dan Aykroyd’s BluesMobile — it’s the fact that she has accumulated all these honours even while her career is still in its infancy. A 2013 graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, she’s toured nationally and internationally, released four critically acclaimed albums (2014’s Heart, Soul & Saxophone, 2017’s Meeting My Shadow, and 2018’s Honey Up, 2020’s Heart On The Line. Honey Up spent 9 weeks atop the Billboard Blues Album Charts Top 15, 3 months on the Living Blues Charts at #10 and #23, and continues to be spun on Sirius XM’s B.B. King’s Bluesville radio station!   It’s not surprising that the press has been quick to commend her efforts as well. Blues Blast Magazine affirms, “Vanessa Collier is a fresh face on the American blues scene, and in addition to her soulful vocals, she brings a mighty sax to the table…” Blues Music Magazine proclaims, “Collier is a fresh face who comes to the blues stage carrying her reed instruments, a dual degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, a major label debut, almost two years of touring with Joe Louis Walker, and a mature musical vision…Collier commands center stage with her vocals, soloing, and stage presence.” Midwest Record exclaims, “This bluesy singing sax player knows how to bring the slinking funk to her captivating, award winning sound that has echoes in young Bonnie Raitt/Maria Muldaur vocal sounds…Killer stuff on every level, this sounds like one of the reasons you first became a music fan. Killer stuff.” and AXS.Com declares that she “might as well go ahead and add another shelf to her trophy case because clearly, she’s going to need it. With a voice that often recalls that of blues-rock stalwart Bonnie Raitt, Collier turns up the heat…”

The March Violets

ALL AGESSTANDING ROOM ONLYTHE MARCH VIOLETS Once Upon A Time In Leeds, 1981. The March Violets strummed their first riff and scrawled their first set list. An impressive post-punk legacy ensued, including BBC sessions for John Peel and other DJs, along with huge indie chart success in the mid-’80s with singles such as ‘Crow Baby’, ‘Snake Dance’, ‘Walk Into The Sun’ and ‘Deep’. The band were subsequently snapped up by London Records for the 1987 release of ’Turn To The Sky’ – which featured in the John Hughes movie Some Kind of Wonderful – before splitting up later that same year. They eventually reunited in 2010 around a nucleus that included founder members Rosie Garland (vocals) and Tom Ashton (guitar), releasing albums in 2013 and 2015 and promoting them with European and US tours.A double album collection of the BBC sessions entitled ‘Big Soul Kiss’ was made available by Jungle Records for the 2021 edition of Record Store Day, with the same label issuing the singles compilation ‘Play Loud Play Purple’ and five-CD box set ‘The Palace Of Infinite Darkness’ shortly after. These coincided with a well received European tour that included headlining sets at Wave-Gotik-Treffen (WGT) in Germany and Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival (Whitby Goth Weekend) in the UK.“Fantastic, post-punk shrapnel guitar from founder member Tom Ashton and the strikingly scary, esoteric beauty of Rosie Garland. The songs clatter and grind around the drum machine and their powerful fug fills the room”John Robb | Louder Than War2024 has seen The March Violets sign to Metropolis Records for a brand new album entitled ‘Crocodile Promises’. Out on 19th July, it will be promoted with a launch show in London at The Garage (20th), followed by Rebellion festival in Blackpool on 2nd August and other TBC dates.  A single and video for the song ‘Hammer The Last Nail’ precedes the album in mid-June. Mat Thorpe (bass, vocals) joined the band in January 2024.THE MARCH VIOLETSRosie Garland – vocalsTom Ashton – guitarMat Thorpe – bass, vocals ROSEGARDEN FUNERAL PARTYRising from the inferno of heartbreak with a determination towards gentility, humility, graciousness, and kindness, Rosegarden Funeral Party takes influence from life’s tragedies and spins chaos into beauty. Leah Lane fronts the band with a voice like that of the lovechild between Morrissey and Siouxsie Sioux and her guitar playing has been compared to that of Daniel Ash. with bass playing that takes obvious inspiration from Peter Hook. With synths trapped in the loving arms of the 1980’s, rhythmic percussion and drums inspired by dark dance floors, Rosegarden Funeral Party prove to be the second-coming of traditional goth.

OUTPOST: Goings with Sani Bronco

etix OUTPOST 756161716389511

– ALL AGES- STANDING ROOM ONLY- RAIN OR SHINE   Goings: Formed in Philadelphia, Goings faced a turning point in 2020. With the release of their debut album “It’s For You” and a global pandemic shutting down live shows, the band, consisting of Chris Kearney, Keith Rogers, and Aidan Rogers, had to adapt. But with time on their hands, they regrouped, adding guitarists Alexi Peters and Cam Chung in 2021. This new lineup sparked a creative surge, resulting in their sophomore LP, ‘Memory Card.’ The album explores the complex relationship we have with memories, using catchy melodies and non-linear song structures to reflect on how we perceive our past. From the heartbreak of a broken engagement to the acceptance of loss, Goings confronts these emotions head-on, ultimately aiming to rewrite the narrative and find beauty in our remembrances. Recorded in August 2023, ‘Memory Card’ marks Goings’ return with 10 new songs, ready to take listeners on a journey through the ever-shifting landscape of memory. The album is set to release in September 2024.Sani Bronco: Sani Bronco is a band branded by a half-tame, half-wild mentality. Embracing the duality of heavy rock and indie folk. The band takes influence from a mixed bag such as Bright Eyes, Title Fight, Slowthai, The Rolling Stones, Oso Oso, to name a few. Founder, David Medina says this mix of influences created Sani Bronco’s sound which he dubs “adobe rock” – a genre named after the adobe architecture found in New Mexico, and many parts of Latin America. Saying “it is a good visual representation of what Sani Bronco sounds like. Adobe rock is organic and simple. It’s robust and timeless.” Sani Bronco started as a solo project, but always with the intention of one day making it a full band project. After the release of ‘One Stop Everything Repair Shop,’ David teamed up with Chris Kearney, drummer of Sweet Pill/Goings/typopro, and Kyle Bosler, former guitarist of Goings. They met online through a Facebook group in 2019 and slowly became friends, occasionally messaging back and forth. When it came time to hit the studio in July of 2022, David reached out to Chris Kearney, to join him in writing and recording the next Sani Bronco LP. The new album was made in 30 days at VuDu Recording Studio in Long Island, NY. It was recorded and produced by Frank Mitaritonna who has worked with bands such as Taking Back Sunday, Covet, As Tall As Lions, The Dear Hunter, Thought Crimes, Kevin Devine, and many more. The album was mixed by Billy Mannino at Two Worlds Recordings in Queens, NY. Billy’s most notable work is all of Oso Oso’s discography. Lastly, the record was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in Hudson Valley, NY. Alan has worked with Sufjan Stevens, The Promise Ring, Animal Collective, Converge, Brand New, and many more. The album is set to release in June 2024.
