TOPS: Bury the Key Tour

etix TOPS 3104601748338274

ALL AGESSTANDING ROOM ONLY   TOPS has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket goes to Chez Doris and their work supporting and empowering any woman in precarious situations to achieve her full potential.   TOPS TOPS — musicians David Carriere, Jane Penny, Marta Cikojevic, and Riley Fleck — write timeless music that reliably threads immediacy and depth. Bury the Key, their first full-length since 2020 and with new label home Ghostly International, is a captivating reintroduction for the Montréal band: ever refined, undoubtedly masters of their melodic craft yet unafraid of evolving and testing themselves against different, at times darker tones. The album faces feelings once locked away, engaging the give-and-take between happiness, hedonism, and self-destruction. While often inhabited by fictional figures, their glowing, grooving, self-produced songs draw from personal observations: intimacy (both inside and outside the band), toxic behavior, drug use, and apocalyptic dread. When recording started, they noticed a shift and leaned in, jokingly dubbed “evil TOPS,” says Penny. “We’re always kind of seen as a soft band or like naive or friendly in a Canadian way, but we made it a challenge to really channel the world around us.” Through the lens of a looming epoch and the clarity that comes with age, TOPS dip into a more sinister disco realm with Bury the Key, giving their soft-focus sophisti-pop a sharpened edge. STARCLEANER REUNION New York City-based Starcleaner Reunion is a new band of old friends. Singer Jo Roman, guitarists Pat Drummond & Neil Torman, and bassist Adam Kenter have been making music together in various configurations since they were high school students together in New Jersey, but never all together in the same group. After Drummond moved back to New York from Montreal and connecting with drummer Sam Unger through a mutual friend, the band solidified and began rehearsing in 2022. Their new EP, Café Life, is the result of a newfound home-recording and production process, an inspired project in which the band felt they could explore and experiment for the first time. Listen closely and you’ll hear samples of rain and thunderstorms, rumbling 808 sub-bass, digital synthesizers ripped from a decade old copy of GarageBand, and ghostly spoken poetry buried deep in the mix of the 4 tracks. Café Life is indebted and dedicated to not hurrying and taking your time. ANDY BOAY (Tonstartssbandht)  Primary psychedelia; hard pop; heartache hymns. Headset vocals, sheets of shimmering guitar, self-oscillating alchemy, looped pulse percussion. Andy Boay has been the solo moniker of Andy White since 2011. He has played in the duo Tonstartssbandht with his brother Edwin since 2007. He spent six years playing guitar in the touring band for Mac DeMarco. Andy Boay’s music taps the euphoric and the sorrowful, both onstage amongst friends and strangers, and tracking alone at his 8-track in the studio. These days he lives and works in the East Village neighborhood of New York City.

Night Tapes

etix Night 3098761748260876

ALL AGESSTANDING ROOM ONLY   NIGHT TAPES Night Tapes’ debut album portals//polarities is a deeply immersive, genre-blurring journey shaped by place and emotion. Created by London trio Iiris Vesik, Max Doohan, and Sam Richards, the album weaves global field recordings—from Estonian swamps to Mexican mountains—into dreamy, electronic soundscapes. Originally recording quietly in a shared house, the group embraced their constraints, crafting music that became time capsules of their surroundings.   Their process blends traditional instruments with laptop production, drawing from synth-pop, shoegaze, trip-hop, and ambient music. Songs often shift unpredictably, blurring the line between band and studio project. Much of the album was made on the road, in Airbnbs and hotels between gigs, emphasizing creativity within limitation. Their use of tapes and spontaneous sampling adds raw, human imperfections that digital methods lack. For Vesik, the album explores inner dualities and personal freedom, with emotional depth conveyed more through sound than lyrics. portals//polarities is a bold debut—personal, political, and vibrantly alive.   The band’s previous releases have been supported by DIY, Clash, NME, Future Music, Gorilla vs Bear, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and many more.      CULT OF VENUS Cult of Venus is a multi-disciplinary performance artist who has played MOMA PS1, Fotografiska’s Chapel Bar for David LaChappelle’s “FAITH”, and The Women’s March NYC. Her music is the meeting point of art and activism with powerful songs that critique the impending environmental collapse, Disaster Capitalism and social media as a surveillance tool.

The Heavy Heavy

etix The 3098741748259075

ALL AGESSTANDING ROOM ONLY   THE HEAVY HEAVY With the arrival of their debut EP Life and Life Only, The Heavy Heavy immediately filled a longtime void in the musical landscape, delivering a soulful breed of rock & roll untouched by modern artifice. As audiences across the globe grew enchanted with their era-bending sound, the UK-based band began selling out headline shows in major cities like New York and Chicago, opening for the likes of Black Pumas and Band of Horses, and earning critical comparisons to Jefferson Airplane, The Band, The Mamas & The Papas, and more—all with only a handful of songs to their name, including the AAA radio top five singles “Miles and Miles” and “Go Down River.” After spending the past two years on the road and in the studio, The Heavy Heavy now draw listeners even deeper into their dreamworld with their long-awaited debut album One Of A Kind. Written entirely by co-founders Georgie Fuller and William Turner and mostly recorded at Turner’s studio in Brighton, One Of A Kind maintains the self-contained approach of Life and Life Only—a seven-song project acclaimed by outlets like NME (who named them an essential emerging artist for 2023) and The Guardian (who noted that The Heavy Heavy “write and play music with that lick of madness that makes early Fleetwood Mac and peak Stones so thrilling”). To that end, Turner produced, engineered, and mixed every track and handled most of the LP’s lavish instrumentation (including guitar, bass, piano, organ, Mellotron, and more), with The Heavy Heavy’s live band lending their explosive energy to the album. But in a departure from the EP, One Of A Kind leans away from Laurel Canyon-esque folk-rock and fully embraces their British roots, finding a particularly crucial inspiration in the gritty and groove-heavy hedonism of the Rolling Stones’ Goats Head Soup. “A lot of our EP was very bright and pretty, so we wanted to smash the door down like we do in the live show,” says Turner. “Because we were creating an entire album, there was so much more space to explore and expand,” Fuller adds. “It’s still undoubtedly that Heavy Heavy sound, but now we have all these other rooms to play around in.”   FonteynUK native Fonteyn spent her formative years pursuing Musical Theatre and acting in England, but it wasn’t until she started making music that she felt able to express herself authentically. Writing songs provided a home for her idiosyncrasies to coexist. Bewitched by the sound of the 70’s, Fonteyn draws from her musical idols, Carole King, Todd Rundgren and Paul McCartney, to name a few. Her debut album “Trip the light Fantastic” offers music centered around rainbow chords and melody. The songs are playful, sentimental, and offer a sense of the theatrical. Fonteyn wants to take you by the hand and sweep you into another time and place. “Trip the light Fantastic” is an introduction to Fonteyn’s songwriting and musical soundscape. Drawing from a rainbow of influences in 1970’s pop, the album is a hedonistic exploration of melody with each song in  pursuit of a particular musical feeling.

Sunny Sweeney

etix Sunny 3064161747756869

ALL AGESSTANDING ROOM ONLY   SUNNY SWEENEY Sunny Sweeney, a genre-bending, songwriting spitfire who has spent equal time in the rich musical traditions of Texas and Tennessee, returns with Married Alone, the celebrated singer-songwriter’s fifth studio album and the follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed Trophy. Co-produced by beloved Texas musician and larger-than-life personality Paul Cauthen and the Texas Gentlemen’s multi-hyphenate Beau Bedford, Married Alone is Sweeney’s finest work yet, bringing together confessional songwriting, image-rich narratives and no shortage of sonic surprises for a loosely conceptual album about loss and healing.  Married Alone began as most of Sweeney’s projects do: with a visit to her deep vault of unreleased songs. Since debuting with Heartbreaker’s Hall of Fame in 2006, Sweeney has been a prolific writer, writing whatever is on her heart rather than with a particular project in mind. That habit afforded her a rich well of material for Married Alone, some of which is over a decade old.  “I have a lot of older songs that still make the cut of like, ‘Am I gonna put this on a record?’ And I always start with those songs, songs that have been important to me for whatever reason. And then I try to build around that. It doesn’t necessarily have to be around a theme, but sometimes it turns out to be that there is one.”  CAM PIERCE Cam Pierce was born and bred in the West… way West. Born in a tiny logging town in Oregon and growing up in the deep woods of the Southern part of the state. All his time in the forests watching, listening, and being still shaped his spontaneous approach to songwriting. Occasionally as a young adult he recalls becoming discontented with small town life and yearned for the bright lights and fast pace of the city. Though these few fantastic bouts in babylon would present new experiences and test’s for the compass of a young man’s life and spirit. The woods, and the small town living would always call him home. Moving to the growing metropolis of Nashville was not such a means of escape, but one of sacrifice in the hopes of advancing his career in Music and Songwriting. From booking his first festival 1 year after arriving in Nashville, to playing the “Country Music Hall Of Fame” to opening for Sunny Sweeney on tour in 2024 and 2025, cutting the first record at FAME studios infamous Studio “B” after it’s re-opening in 2021; the opportunities that have come Cam’s way are miraculous for a small town boy from Southern Oregon. He’s played with a string of incredibly talented musicians over the years. Like Anthony “Ziggy” Johnson, keys for “Alan Jackson” and “Whispering Bill Anderson”, Mike Klooster, Keys for “Smashmouth”, Chad Gamble and Jimbo Hart both members of “The 400 Unit”. The list goes on and so does the gratitude to such folks for lending their crafts. “When I came to Nashville it wasn’t with friends. I had no contacts, no connections of any kind. I knew no one, and had nothing. It was sheer drive, trust and stupidity. Like a blind man diving into the ocean”.

Nick Shoulders: Universe of Battle Tour

etix Nick 3057581747660858

ALL AGESSTANDING ROOM ONLY   NICK SHOULDERS All Bad, the latest album from Nick Shoulders, released via Gar Hole Records (a label founded and co-owned by Shoulders), ultimately encapsulates everything that makes Shoulders’ inimitable form of country music so vital: a heady balance of dazzling musicianship and punk defiance, coupled with gritty eccentricity and a generational connection to the roots of the genre. With a singing style inherited from his family’s vocal lineage, Nick’s songs achieve the rare feat of imparting difficult truths while inciting a certain joyful abandon, balancing a sound forged by years of hard travel with a heartfelt reverence for the origins of country music. In the spirit of Hazel Dickens and Jimmy Driftwood, the incisive yet wildly jubilant All Bad vocally objects to the reckless destruction of the natural landscape and development run rampant, while still offering plenty of joy and dance-ready rhythms. Spanning a variety of early country styles, the album’s infectious harmonies shine alongside everything from jangling cajun waltzes to surf-rock infused bluesy ballads–all tied together by a voice seemingly out of place in this century, yet ever ready to speak up about its problems.   Surrounded by a singing style passed down from a time before microphones, Nick’s childhood of bird call whistles and an over-exposure to southern gospel music eventually steered him toward an adolescence drumming for metal and punk bands, and subsequent years as an active illustrator and member of Arkansas’s heavy music scene. After numerous personal calamities and a growing obsession with the rural musical traditions of his lifelong home, Shoulders left the Ozarks and lived out of his van, singing on the street corners of the west while slowly being drawn to the vibrance of the New Orleans dance and busking world. Following the release of ‘Rather Low’ by the popular YouTube channel Western AF, which catapulted Nick’s songs to a vastly wider audience right as Covid-19 and lockdowns ensued, he’s seen rapid ascension into the world of touring music, playing alongside the likes of Sierra Ferrell and at major festivals such as Stagecoach. With the hard rhythms and heavenly melodies of the newest release, All Bad, Shoulders manages to concoct a body of work that is at turns sublimely freewheeling and profoundly illuminating, yet primed to permanently warp the listener’s perspective to glorious effect. CHRIS ACKER In a genre full of tall tales and marketable lies, Chris Acker crafts candid songs – weaving his wit and woes into a body of work that exposes the stale plight of the American Songster to the honest, and sometimes hilarious, light of day.

Tinsley Ellis

etix Tinsley 3039061747303877

ALL AGESSEATED SHOWLIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS AVAILABLETINSLEY ELLIS  On Naked Truth (his 21st album), Ellis swaps his blistering, guitar-fueled full band workouts for equally passionate, soul-searching acoustic folk blues. His famed guitar chops and musical creativity are on full display throughout the album’s 12 songs, including nine newly written originals. Naked Truth was produced by Ellis, with the foot-stomping cover of Son House’s Death Letter Blues produced by Atlanta roots musician Eddie 9V. The album was recorded live in the studio using Ellis’ beloved 1969 Martin D-35 (a gift from his father) and his 1937 National Steel O Series guitars. Whether intricately fingerpicking the Martin or playing hair-raising slide on the National Steel, Ellis delivers each song with unvarnished intimacy. The opener, Ellis’ original Devil In The Room, comes from an expression Ellis’ close friend, the late Col. Bruce Hampton, would tell his musicians just before a show was about to begin (“We’re here to put the devil in the room,” he’d say). From the original, Skip James-inspired Windowpane to the Delta-styled Tallahassee Blues, to the humorous Grown Ass Man, Ellis goes deep, singing and playing the blues’ honest truths. The inclusion of four introspective instrumentals (including a transcendent cover of Leo Kottke’s A Soldier’s Grave On The Prairie, a song he’s been playing live for almost 50 years) adds even more depth and substance to an album overflowing with riches. Each song carries the weight, experience and hard-earned wisdom Ellis learned over four decades on the road, infusing Naked Truth with an emotional authenticity that is palpable from start to finish. Tinsley Ellis has been immersed in music his whole life. Born in Atlanta 1957 and raised in southern Florida, he acquired his first guitar at age seven, inspired by seeing The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. He took to guitar instantly, developing and sharpening his skills as he grew up. Like many kids his age, Ellis discovered the blues through the back door of British Invasion bands like The Yardbirds, The Animals, Cream and The Rolling Stones as well as Southern rockers like The Allman Brothers.  According to Atlanta-based blues guitarist, singer and songwriter Tinsley Ellis, his new, first-ever solo acoustic album, Naked Truth, is both “a departure and an arrival.” Ellis has been recording and travelling the world for over four decades, delivering his feral, guitar-fueled, original electric blues-rock to ever-growing audiences at concert halls, festivals, and clubs. Naked Truth is steeped in the folk blues traditions of Muddy Waters, Skip James, Son House, Robert Johnson and even Leo Kottke. To the casual fan, this might seem to be a new direction, but for Ellis, it’s an extension of his music, as he taps into the raw essence of the blues. “This is a record I’ve always wanted to make, and one that my longtime fans have been asking for,” he says, noting he’s included an acoustic mini-set in his concert performances for years. In the last 12 months, Ellis has already performed over 100 solo shows, many as co-bills with his Alligator label-mate Marcia Ball. “I’m having so much fun playing these shows,” he says.

Written collaboratively for the first time with their full touring band—founding members Zach Williams, Brian Elmquist, and Kanene Pipkin joined by drummer Julian Dorio and multi-instrumentalist Tyler James—the album channels the raw, ecstatic energy of the band’s live show into a dynamic collection of songs that pulse with warmth, honesty, and human connection. Recorded live in Muscle Shoals, AL, after a writing retreat in a converted Kentucky firehouse, the album is both a celebration and a reckoning: of friendship, loss, love, and resilience. From the gritty, Stones-tinged opener “After The Rain” to the soul-stirring closer “That Table,” the record captures the joy and vulnerability that have long defined The Lone Bellow’s sound—lush harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and genre-blurring arrangements steeped in folk, rock, and gospel. The album’s creation was marked by setbacks, including the theft of early recordings, but the outpouring of support from their fanbase reaffirmed what the band has always known: their music is a shared experience. That spirit echoes throughout the album, whether in anthems like “Common Folk” and “I’m Here For You,” or in intimate reflections like “You Were Leaving” and “Night Goes Black.” Since their acclaimed 2013 debut, The Lone Bellow has appeared on The Tonight Show, Austin City Limits, and The Late Show, topped Americana charts, and headlined storied venues from Carnegie Hall to the Ryman Auditorium. But with their next album, they reaffirm their commitment not just to making music, but to building community—on stage, in song, and around the table.
