The Grateful Brothers
– ALL AGES- STANDING ROOM ONLYTHE GRATEFUL BROTHERS The Grateful Brothers pay tribute to two of the richest catalogs of music in American history: The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers Band. Formed in early 2016, The Grateful Brothers combine the catalogs of The Allman Brothers and The Grateful Dead. Often intertwining songs through segues and transitions, they carry out the improvisational spirit of the two groups in their own space. They use the songs as more of a template rather than adhering to strict album-style covers, creating a unique, high-energy, and genuine crowd experience at every performance. The seven musicians making up the band have known each other and played in various outfits with one another for upwards of twenty years. The camaraderie between them is obvious and the familiarity leads to the ease of musical exploration.
Machine Funk: A Tribute to Widespread Panic

The band tours the southeast covering the music of Widespread Panic. Night after night their set lists are never the same, with having over 150 songs in rotation you will not see the same show twice. MF also include songs from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Talking Heads and many others. Machine Funk has shared the stage with musicians from The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, North Mississippi Allstars, Randall Bramblett, ALSO Todd Nance and Jojo Hermann of Widespread Panic. JAZZ IS DEAD: 25th Anniversary Tour
– ALL AGES- STANDING ROOM ONLY- FEATURING STEVE KIMOCK, ALPHONSO JOHNSON, PETE LAVEZZOLI, BOBBY LEE RODGERSJAZZ IS DEAD celebrates it’s 25th Anniversary with an all-star ensemble performing a limited run of shows to honor the 50th Anniversary of The Grateful Dead’s ‘WAKE OF THE FLOOD.’ The acclaimed All-Star instrumental ensemble, famous for interpretations of classic Grateful Dead songs with jazz influences, returns in 2023 to celebrate its 25th Anniversary. Co-founder Alphonso Johnson will be joined by Steve Kimock, Pete Lavezzoli & Bobby Lee Rodgers, performing Grateful Dead’s ‘Wake of The Flood’ marking it’s 50th Anniversary, in addition to other beloved selections. Jazz Is Dead XXV ‘reunites’ two greats! Steve Kimock & Alphonso Johnson, who together in heavyweight post-Garcia Grateful Dead offshoot The Other Ones together with Bob Weir, commanded the instrumental prowess of that band. Formed in 1998 by bassist Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report, Santana, Bobby & The Midnites, The Other Ones), drummer Billy Cobham (Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Bobby & The Midnites), keyboardist T Lavitz (Dixie Dregs) & guitarist Jimmy Herring (Aquarium Rescue Unit, Widespread Panic), with drummers Rod Morgenstern (Dixie Dregs) & Jeff Sipe (Leftover Salmon) replacing Cobham in 1999, and guitarist Jeff Pevar (CSN, David Crosby CPR, Phil Lesh & Friends) replacing Herring in 2000, recorded 3 acclaimed albums, the second of which ‘Laughing Water’ in 1999 was in fact an instrumental ‘Wake of The Flood’ reinterpretation – so there is precedent. That album also featured Derek Trucks, Donna Jean Godchaux & Vassar Clements. On Laughing Water, the fusion ensemble Jazz Is Dead one-ups the band that it sets out to honor. Laughing Water is a superior remake of the Grateful Dead’s rather ordinary rock album Wake of the Flood. Fortunately, you don’t have to be a Deadhead to appreciate this album. Laughing Water not only fuses jam-rock with jazz, but it possesses a country-bluesy Americana flavor. The songs on Laughing Water are long and improvisational, but they seldom grow boring. From a purely technical standpoint, each musician in Jazz Is Dead is a superior player to his counterpart in the Grateful Dead. But unlike many pop-jazz remakes of rock albums, Laughing Water manages to capture the rock ‘n roll animus of the original. The communal carefree spirit of tie-died counter culturalism lives on in this music. Jerry’s Dead: Acoustic Set/Electric Set
ALL AGESSTANDING ROOM ONLY JERRY’S DEAD Jerry’s Dead pays tribute to the music of Jerry Garcia. Not exactly a Grateful Dead cover band, this quartet from Asheville, North Carolina, shines a spotlight specifically on songs lead by Jerry Garcia, who fronted the Grateful Dead in an alternating fashion with his bandmates. The “long strange list” of Garcia compositions and his own wide range of cover songs comes to life with Jerry’s Dead’s exciting interpretations from this iconic catalog. Further extending their tribute, Jerry’s Dead includes songs lead by Garcia in his many side projects throughout his accomplished career, including the Jerry Garcia Band and his work with mandolinist David Grisman. To date Jerry’s Dead has performed well over 150 different Garcia pieces, reinterpreting each in unique fashion to the delight of their growing fan base. Jerry’s Dead features Tim Marsh on guitar and lead vocals and includes Dan Pederson on bass and vocals, Gus Vigo on keys and vocals, and Lee Kram on drums and vocals. Since their debut on June 21, 2021, at The Straightaway Cafe, Jerry’s Dead has brought Garcia’s music to many of Western Carolina’s well known breweries and music venues, including Highland Brewing Company, The Grey Eagle, Pisgah Brewing Company, The Asheville Music Hall, and The French Broad River Brewing Company, which hosts Jerry’s Dead every Thursday evening for two sets of free music. This weekly residency has become a real draw for the band, creating a space for vendors, dancers, and music lovers to commune regularly. On occasion, Jerry’s Dead has hosted some very special guests, including Rob Barraco of The Dead, Dark Star Orchestra, Phil Lesh Quintet and Zen Tricksters; Lisa Mackey, also of D.S.O.; Julian Pinelli, who played fiddle with Peter Rowan, a bluegrass bandmate of Garcia in Old and in the Way; and Joe Marcinek of the Joe Marcinek Band and Dead Funk Summit, featuring George Porter Jr. of The Meters and Melvin Seals of the Jerry Garcia Band. After opening for Joe’ Marcinek’s Dead Funk Summit featuring Melvin Seals, it was Tim’s great honor to sit in with Melvin Seals, Joe Marcinek, and Tony Hall of Dumpstaphunk that night.
