Robin Plemmons: Throbbin’

robin plemmons throbbin

AGES 18+ SEATED SHOW LIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS AVAILABLE   Asheville artist and comedian Robin Plemmons is back for another round of holleration. Her third one-woman show here at the Grey Eagle is called THROBBIN and she’ll be in her sweet spot- oversharing the hell out of her life: like living with Crohn’s disease, getting through 8 butthole surgeries, being married to an Appalachian beefcake, parenting neurodivergent kids in a hellscape, and dragging her ass to therapy, all while laughing at the absurdity of it all.  She’s like Miralax for emotional constipation, organically loosening us all up.  You might shit yourself. Your chakras might align. You might run into your therapist (or hers) and have to unpack that later. You might leave with a boner (or the vulva equivalent). You might feel healed. You might feel traumatized. Who’s to say.  ADHD and visually stimulated individuals will especially enjoy how she sprinkles her own ridiculous, heartfelt art throughout the show, displayed on the big screen in front of you. Please keep in mind that it’s R-rated material, so don’t bring your MeeMaw unless your MeeMaw is chill.  And here’s a fun surprise! The end of the show will morph into a dance party filled with nasty hip hop, power ballads, and splashes of Xennial nostalgic tunes. Think DMX, Celine Dion, Kendrick, Beyoncé, Amy Grant.  It’s a delightful sensory buffet that will leave your heart, eyeballs, and crotchal region throbbin’ in all the best ways.  Bonus! It’s a Saturday night! There’ll be tacos, beer, and unhinged merch! AND you’ll probably be in bed, snuggled under your covers like a sweet, satiated, milk-drunk baby, by 9:30 or 10:00.

Cliff Cash (2nd Night Added!!)

etix Cliff 2334781736456481

ALL AGES FULLY SEATED SHOW LIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS AVAILABLE   CLIFF CASH Cliff Cash is a nationally touring standup comic who got his start in North Carolina.People said “you should be a comedian” his whole life but that sounded just as abstract as “you should be president” or “you should be an astronaut”.   But you can only run from fate for so long. In 2011 at the age of 31, Cash got up at his first open mic. He was in the middle of big financial troubles, his father in chemo, a failing business and a tumultuous relationship. That four minutes on stage breathed life back into him that he didn’t think was possible. He didn’t miss one after that for two years.  Within a year and a half he landed Comedy Central’s UpNEXT and Sirius XM, the next year he appeared on Laughs TV and won Port City’s Top Comic and Comedy Zone’s Almost Famous. He’s gone on to win SLO Comedy festival’s Best of the Fest, Denver Comedy Work’s Thick Skinned (twice) and has headlined shows at Altercation Comedy Festival, Treefort Festival, West End Comedy Festival and BackHand Comedy Festival.   He’s also been part of Standup NBC and Rooftop Comedy. Cash has a half hour on DRYBAR Comedy called “ God Needed a Driver” and his debut album “Halfway There” was released by StandUp! Records in 2021 and spent a week at #1 on the comedy charts.   Cliff Cash was raised on the far right end of the southern, conservative, evangelical spectrum and the result is the antithesis of what was intended. Cliff’s comedy tackles everything from racism to homophobia, greed and war to death and divorce. Don’t worry there’s some poop jokes mixed in. Cash takes the audience on a journey that’s more than just funny. You’ll think, you’ll feel, you may even cry a little but then you’ll laugh again. His comedy aims to shine the light of levity into the darkest corners or the human experience and by doing so; take some power away from the things that we fear and dread. “Laughter is the best medicine” became a cliche for a reason. It’s true. Cliff hopes it is at least because he doesn’t have health insurance.

– ALL AGES- SEATED SHOW- LIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS AVAILABLE JOE ZIMMERMAN “The combination of Joe’s calming vocalization and inventive writing is a thing of magic. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more enjoyable show.”-Buzzfeed Joe grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia, and started his comedy career in North Carolina shortly after graduating Davidson College (where obviously, he was an English major). While starting out in the South, he launched a tour with three friends, called “The Beards of Comedy” and landed a record deal with Comedy Central Records.  In 2012, he moved to New York City, quickly appearing on The Late Late Show and John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show, as well as Montreal’s Just for Laughs festival. His resume has since grown to include The Tonight Show, Conan, Nickelodeon, Last Comic Standing, and his own Comedy Central Half Hour, and the Comedy Cellar’s topical show, “This Week at the Comedy Cellar”. Joe’s first solo album Smiling at Wolves (2014) reached number two on the iTunes comedy charts, and shortly after Paste Magazine named him one of 10 best comedians from the south.  His second album, Innocence, came out on Comedy Central Records (2018) and is played regularly on Sirius XM radio, and in 2019 he recorded a dry bar special with upwards of million views on YouTube.  His first, fully produced one-hour comedy special “Cult Classic”, is set to come out in 2023, directed by Nate Bargatze and produced by 800 Pound Gorilla. Aside from headlining comedy clubs, he tours regularly in theaters and arenas with comedy legend Brian Regan and rising super-star Nate Bargatze. Joe has also contributed humor writing to The New York Times and The New Yorker, and has appeared on numerous podcasts and radio, including 2 Dope Queens, The Scientists, Dork Forest, StarTalk, Bob & Tom, The Todd Barry Podcast, and The Artie Lange Show. JIM TEWS Jim Tews was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard after high school and was stationed in Cleveland where he started stand-up comedy. After completing his enlistment, he studied Film Production at Cleveland State University. He continued performing standup while in college, often to the detriment of his grades. In 2011, after finally finishing college, he moved to New York City to work as a comedian and writer. When the pandemic hit, while stuck inside, Jim taught himself to animate. He currently works as an independent animator and writer and is again regularly leaving the house to perform standup.
