Ian Ridenhour
Ian Ridenhour
Ian Ridenhour writes smart, piano-driven alternative rock music with pop sensibilities and a dark streak, or as Sav Buist of The Accidentals puts it: “like Jack White and Ben Folds had a baby.”

Ian is a unique performer. 2016 marks not only his sixteenth birthday, but also ten years as a professional musician. He began drumming with Bismarck, ND-based band Blind Mice at only six years old, the youngest band member by thirty years. He added songwriting the next year, and has never looked back.

In the decade since, Ian has shared the stage with artists like David LaMotte, BJ Leiderman, and The Accidentals, composed classical and jazz music for concert and big band ensembles, been nominated in the same year for Best Percussionist and Best Keyboardist at the North Dakota Music Awards, played on albums by David LaMotte and Bronwyn Holmes, and recorded his own album, 2014’s Quietly Making Noise. In February of this year, he was the biggest winner on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire’s Whiz Kid week. Those winnings funded the new album Cry About It, produced by Michael Hynes at Nomatic Studios in Asheville, as well as two music videos, directed by award-winning Asheville filmmaker Kira Bursky.

David LaMotte says, “It is thrilling to watch an artist begin a public career with as much promise as Ian’s,” which is perhaps what jazz legend Jimmy Cobb meant when he said of Ian, “In a couple of minutes, he’s gonna be a monster.”
Dreamy vocals and guitars, catchy hooks, and a lush musical depiction of youthfulness. Goodfight is the Floridian-led, Brooklyn based flower pop band that improvises shoegaze and spellbinds their audiences with pastel tones. Longing to return home, Goodfight is on tour this July grooving down the east coast and spreading the gospel of this new sound.
