The Wood Brothers, from King Johnson (Oliver) and Medeski Martin & Wood (Chris), have begun a collaboration that combines their shared childhood influences with everything they've learned since leaving home. Their music has a rootsy feel that blends blues, folk, and rock music in a guitar/bass duo. You do NOT want to miss this great night! Tuesday, May 19, 2009. 8pm. $13 advance/$15 day of show.
The New Mastersounds will unfortunately be unable to perform on Wed 4/22. The new line-up for Wed 4/22 is now DJ Logic w/Josh Phillips Folk Festival & Moon Taxi. Joining DJ Logic onstage will be an all-star cast of performers, including: Laura Reed and Debrissa McKinney (Laura Reed & Deep Pocket), Luke Quaranta (Toubab Krewe), Sam Hovey (SPAM All Stars, Damien Marley). The following is a message directly from the band themselves:
To all of our Asheville fans:
We're sorry to have to inform you that due to frustrating delays with our work visas, we won't be able to play the scheduled show this Wednesday with our friends DJ Logic and Moon Taxi. We will continue with our tour of the Southeastern US starting in Athens, GA on Thursday April 23, barring any further visa delays.
For months we've been looking forward to coming back to Asheville, and have done everything in our power to avoid this situation - sadly, to no avail. We appreciate your support and understanding, and we hope you will give us the chance to make it up to you in the future.
That being said, THE SHOW WILL GO ON with DJ Logic and Moon Taxi.... Please be sure to check them out!
Regards,
The New Mastersounds
They say all good things must come to an end. And after 25 years, one of the most raucous, fun and entertaining acts around is marking their anniversary with one final album ('Having The Last Word') and a farewell tour. Saffire mix true-to-life lyrics with great music to create an act recognized worldwide, and is one of the most popular, witty, and just plain satisfying acoustic blues groups on the scene today. This concert will be your last chance to catch this band live in Asheville -- don't miss this one!
Friday, May 1, 2009. 9pm. $20 advance/$23 day of show.
