PARTIALLY SEATED SHOW

Ultrafaux
Ultrafaux
When Ultrafaux last performed at Grey Eagle, they blew away a sold-out crowd during the annual Django Birthday Festival. They return almost exactly one year later on Monday January 28 for a very special show with popular dance band, Queen Bee and the Honeylovers.

This will be a spirited night of music starting with Ultrafaux's gypsy-influenced original jazz followed by an extended swing dance set led by mesmerizing vocalist Whitney Moore "Queen Bee" and her magnificent Honeylovers.

------------------------------------------------

Baltimore-based Ultrafaux, is a dynamic acoustic trio of two guitars and upright bass that has pushed the envelope of what we commonly know as gypsy jazz by creating edgy compositions
that stretch the boundaries while remaining rooted firmly in its rich tradition and technique.

The group has thrilled a wide variety of audiences at festivals and concert halls all over the world since their first CD release in 2014, redefining what's possible with just two guitars and an upright bass.

Guitarists Michael Joseph Harris and Sami Arefin share rhythm and lead roles, trading dazzling solos and harmonizing together on rich gypsy-inspired melodies while bassist Zach Serleth holds down the beat with an authenticity that he's developed through years of studying Balkan gypsy music and Manouche syles.

Ultrafaux was featured at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in France in 2017 and will once again be performing there in 2019. While touring all over the world they have had the honor of performing at top jazz festivals including Django by the Sea 2016/2018, Midwest Gypsy Swingfest 2016/2018, Charm City Django Jazzfest 2016-2019, Djangoary 2017, Django-a-gogo 2017, Preston Jazz Festival UK 2018, Kennedy Center 2015, and Napa Valley Jazz Society 2016/2019.

Ultrafaux originals "Latcho Dromo" and "Signs of Struggle" were both featured on Django Festival (#9 in 2015 & #11 in 2018), a compilation of the finest gypsy jazz in the world produced by Jon Larsen.
