The Blue Ridge Busketeers are a trio of bluegrassers who are pushing the boundaries of traditional music based in Asheville, NC. Mixing in hints of jazz and blues into their playing, the Busketeers love to have a good time and bring the vibe to any show.
Annie Jo Buchanan and Claire Hoke's friendship grew between the four doors of a beloved navy blue Toyota, through long conversations in the parking lot of their apartment complex, settling in deeper with every click: of seatbelts retracting, headlights going dark, key turning, engine going quiet. They filled the recycled air with their tired voices, filled their ears with each other's stories, and realized that the weights they carried looked and felt awfully similar, especially the fear of sharing their songs with the world. They decided to shed their fears together and Cowbaby was born.
Inspired by folk artists like I'm With Her, Gillian Welch, and Mountain Man, and other badass female artists like Adrienne Lenker, Phoebe Bridgers, Joni Mitchell, and Dolly Parton (the list rambles on...), Cowbaby writes deeply personal, bittersweet tunes rooted in feminine experience, harkening to the discomfort of adolescence and a seemingly endless search for identity in a world full of expectations.
Their debut release, Sincerely, is available on all streaming platforms.
