R. Stevie Moore, known in many circles as "The Godfather of Home Recording," and hero to such musicians as Ariel Pink and James Richardson of MGMT, is going on his first-ever tour, starting with the United States and continuing to Europe. The tour will include a stopoff at The Grey Eagle on July 7th. In addition to backing him up, Brooklyn bad boys Tropical Ooze will play a set of their own material. Athens band Quiet Hooves will round out the bill with demented pop.

Moore has self-released more than 400 albums over the past three and a half decades, all from his home in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Rolling Stone Magazine has called him "a national treasure unrecognized in his homeland." According to The New York Times, R. Stevie "owns a cult following of international rock snobs."

Yet, despite all this, the reclusive pop genius found himself on the brink of homelessness this past December. With few options, he returned to his hometown of Nashville, where he has gotten his second wind. Back in Nashville, he recorded a new album, Advanced, with funds raised on KickStarter. He then made a trip up to Brooklyn to begin rehearsal with Brooklyn band Tropical Ooze. Together, they've recently played shows in Brooklyn and the Bay Area. Backed by Ooze, Stevie also hosted Culture Shock! Festival at SUNY Purchase, and headlined the Operation: Restore Maximum Freedom Festival in Davis, California. It's been revelatory for Stevie to finally have a dedicated band to provide the full sound found on his many recordings. The tour, beginning in the United States and heading into Europe later in the summer, will be documented by Jon Demiglio for full-length film about the DIY giant.
