*Big Brothers Big Sisters has been serving young people in Western North Carolina since 1982, matching children ages 6-14 from single-parent families with caring, adult mentors. The organization currently covers eight counties.

"Bigs" and "littles" spend time together forming a friendship. In the traditional program, they participate in activities in our community like hiking on the parkway, playing ball, or baking cookies. In the site-based program, bigs and littles see each other at the child's school or recreation center. They spend time playing games, completing homework, and having lunch together.

Bigs and littles have fun together — and create memories that last a lifetime. Research points to the powerful, positive, lasting impact bigs have on children’s lives.
